Summer can take me captive with its rays of light burning bright
Like the heart I wear outside my vest
that will one day put me to rest.
Sun..is this a test? Shall I fight this fight, or rest?
I am blessed, I am blessed, so I shall rest
I am the best there is no test, for I am better than the rest.
My words sour with a sweetness to them
I pack a punch for those who are lacking-
laying around and smacking on their so called lunch
Going munch, munch, munch.
While the earth is being turned upside down you sit here like a clown with a frown
The outsiders are part of the muck
Just look at all this grime and gunk!
Yet you claim to make the earth better while I sit here in my sweater.
Did you think global warming was any better?
I could feel myself shutter
I melted like butter
As I testified they began to electrify me, despite my initial pessimism.
Hope does not lie far beyond the reef
What is lost can be found, what is broken can be repaired and shared
Lights that have been dimmed may burn and yearn again.
We may flourish so that the animals, they nourish
So the tides may grow, as the winds blow with an everlasting glow
While the rays of sun give us laughter and fun
See the glory in our story.
Do not hide like a sea turtle at bay, instead you must take heed and aim
Pierce their hearts with an alertness to revert this
Be the hero who prevents all sorrow to see the morrow
In the end it is you and I in a blink of an eye.
