High School has many definitions as it
has lows, has highs, has it’s many hellos,
and goodbyes, topped by until we meet agains.
You may enter with, but guaranteed you’ll make anew
Friends, Foes, who knows where you’ll go.
Secondary School has many names,
It’s impossible to know how far by this time of life,
it can throw you, slow you, blow you by;
You learn life is everything but formulized.
Life is full of algebra and its overly complicated variables.
Abstract like geometry, chock full of stories like literature,
too many things to derive and integrate like calculus,
depth in its history and many societies to study,
High School is Life’s Terrarium.
And when graduation comes we break the lid and add our own little colony,
To the world’s larger ecology,
Our philosophies,
Exposed to their philosophies,
Our changing developing biologies,
Integrating into the larger sociology, complexities of our psychologies,
All to acquire our own accolades in this world’s vast
Pre-existing ever expanding economy;
To discover our functionality, thrive in our curiosity,
We wield as we weld it; Reality.
High school has it’s trident like pillars of fundamentals,
Power, Performance, and Romance.
We find ourselves so lost in it that when time comes to end
We struggle to find our closure, as We struggle to understand reason,
Or even find reason. Yet learn that we aren’t always required to know,
But we are required to flow and stay atop of everything that goes, as success is abroad
All that we seek and all we will know.
To become familiar with unfamiliar environments,
Bestow upon us and strip from us the entitlement,
Free ourselves from judgment,
to be frightened and,
Senioritis is our high school retirement,
The hats are thrown and let it all be known,
High School is our Teen-Age Enlightenment.
