On January 9, 2025, the MSK MBK Lip Sync Battle took place, hosted by two of our school clubs as a fundraiser to support their activities. The event had amazing performances from both club members and students who entered the competition, creating an amazing experience for everyone involved.

The show was well attended, with a large crowd of students, teachers, and even our Principal, Ms. Katz, showing support for the clubs. The club leaders choose an amazing panel of judges, which included Mr.Brown , the AP of World Language, Ms. Leyow, AP Lang teacher, Ms.Rabassa, English teacher and Student Activities Coordinator, and a student judge, Abigail, a senior who is an active member of the Student Government, Student Ambassadors, and the National Honor Society.

The judges had a tough job of choosing the top three performances, but overall did a great job and here are the winners:

First Place: The performance of Thriller by Mr. William, Naomi, Jazzy, Nina, Tiffany, Brianna, and Michaela were spectacular. Recreating Michael Jackson’s iconic performance, they left the crowd speechless, earning them the top spot.

Second Place: Flashing Lights performed by Jordan, Enhar, and Nayana brought a creative twist, as they pretended to be Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Their performance was full of energy, connecting with the audience by having them turn on their flashlights making it a well-deserved second place.

Third Place: Mr. Ponciano, Ms. Haobitai, Ms. Salvador, and Ms. Kabalkin delivered an electrifying performance of Crazy Train that wowed the audience and secured them third place.

The night was filled with fun, laughter, and unforgettable moments, and we can’t wait for next year’s show. We highly recommend everyone to attend because it’s an event where you can enjoy incredible talent, cheer on your friends, and have an amazing time!
