Have you heard about FDR’s Knitting and Crocheting Club? Are you interested in joining and learning more about it? In this interview with Jasmine, the club’s President and founder, and Mr. Klecan, the advisor, you’ll gain valuable insights into the club and hopefully spark your interest in becoming a member.
Interview with Mr. Klecan:
What are some of the activities you do in the club?
“Most of our members are beginners. They are currently learning the basics of knitting from me and the basics of crocheting from Jasmine, the club President. It’s hard in the beginning, but once they get the basics down, it opens up a lot of possibilities.”
What do you enjoy about mentoring this club?
“I enjoy mentoring this club, because I get to share and teach what my grandmother taught me when I was 10 years old, to teenagers who want to learn something new or expand their knitting/crocheting skills.”
What do you enjoy about this club?
“I love this club because there’s a growing enthusiasm for knitting and crocheting at FDR, with both boys and girls showing great interest. You can see it in the strong turnout at meetings and the excitement everyone has about crocheting.”
What do you hope club members gain from this experience?
“I’d love for everyone to have fun while learning this new skill, one that they can carry with them for life. With it, they’ll be able to create items like clothes, toys, and gifts, whether for themselves or others.”
Interview with Jasmine:
What is your role as the President of the club?
“As President of the Knitting and Crocheting Club, I take pride in ensuring everyone has the materials they need and a clear idea of what they want to create. If they’re uncertain, I’m always ready to help brainstorm ideas. Before teaching, I ask each member about their goals and what they hope to achieve. I then customize my instructions to meet their needs. For instance, I always ask if they’re left- or right-handed, so I can adjust my teaching methods to match their dominant hand.”
What do you enjoy about being in charge of the club?
“One of the things I truly enjoy about leading this club is the satisfaction of teaching someone how to crochet and knit. It’s incredibly rewarding to share my knowledge and help others who are eager to learn.”
When/where does your club happen?
“We meet up every Wednesday after eighth period in room 301.”
Mr. Klecan and Jasmine are both deeply passionate about expanding their knowledge and sharing their skills by teaching FDR students how to knit and crochet. They believe that these crafts are not only fun but also valuable skills that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. With this in mind, they actively encourage students to stop by their club, where they can learn something new and creative that will stay with them forever. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to enhance your skills, the club offers a welcoming space to explore knitting and crocheting at your own pace. Meetings are held in room 301 every Wednesday, so come check it out and join in on the fun!
