Staffer of the Month – Dr. Alvarez
Congratulations to Dr. Alvarez! She is this month’s Staffer of the Month. She has been working at FDR for over 25 years. Dr. Alvarez retired from teaching A.P. Statistic when she decided to become the Assistant Principal of Guidance. If she could go back in time, she would not change anything. Being a teacher has had many advantages she was unaware of when she was younger. She believes working with young people keeps one young and gives one hope. Dr. Alvarez wants the students of FDR High School to know that happiness is more important than money! The three words she would use to describe herself would be happy, lucky, and grateful. Dr. Alvarez wanted to be a math teacher, because she wanted to teach students who had difficulty with math. Anyone who has met her knows she is always there to lend a helping hand.
Dr. Alvarez’s greatest teaching moment was reading, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” to her A.P. Statistics class after their exam. Dr. Alvarez loves to cook, repair things, and she does excellent tile work outside of her school life. Her favorite quote is, “Life is too important to be taken seriously.” As for her future plans for FDR high school, Dr. Alvarez would like to introduce a college/career curriculum this year.
A very special New Dealer thank you to Ms Alvarez! We truly appreciate all you do!!
