Boys Bowling- So Close!!!
Having gone undefeated for the past two years in divisional play, the Boys Bowling team managed to reach the PSAL Boys Bowling Division A Semifinals! Of course the expectations were high after reaching the semifinals last year, however, the Cougars made FDR proud again. Determined and hungry for a title, the FDR Cougars Bowling team gave it their all in each playoff game. The team looks in good shape for the future after finishing the season with an outstanding average of 2155.583 pins.
Head Coach Alchalal does everything in his power to make sure his team is ready to play. During their playoff run, the Cougars took out Brooklyn Studio, Midwood, and Petrides before falling to New Dorp. The team looked promising after receiving solid performances from each of the A, B, and C team. Athletes Max Churbakov, Emanuel Casilas (ranked 5th in the city), Tenpa Tsering and Joshua Rivera were leading the way- providing the highest combined pins scored throughout the playoffs. Each player put up monster numbers, most notably Emanuel and Max who scored 256 and 247 pins respectively!
The Cougars showed resilience and hard work by practicing everyday at Shell Lanes, whenever they didn’t have a match to play. Quoting many members of the team and coaches, hard-work and determination showed everyday during practice and games. The team also has a charismatic charm to it since, according to Abdullokh Saydaliev, “Whenever we have a bad game, feel nervous, or distracted the team comes together and picks each other up by making sure everyone is having a good time.”
We, the FDR community, cheer you guys for an amazing run! Win or lose we are proud to have the Boys Bowling team represent our school. Way to go Cougars!
