After closing out the regular season with a stellar 10-2 record, followed by a 3rd round playoff exit, the Girl’s Volleyball team comes into the upcoming season determined to improve.  The team is led by, 4 year player, Desirae DeCoo and, 3 year starter, Junior Emily Donohue.  According to Coach Hand, while the team has some question marks, this could be a very strong squad. Last year’s bench player, Tiffany Chen, has taken over as the setter, so the team is working hard on communicating, developing inexperienced players, and refining rotations.  Hand claims, “If it all clicks, they have limitless potential.  We need to work together.”

Our Cougar Captains,  Desirae Decoo, and Emily Donohue provided their input, regarding their expectations and goals as a team. Their responses indicate that the team is on-the-up, which is good news for the Lady Cougars.

Desirae’s Responses:

Q. What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

A. Personally, I expect to help take the team further into the postseason than we’ve previously had.

Q. What are your goals as a team for the upcoming season?

A. One of our goals as a team this season is to stay united,  not only as a team, but as a family from the beginning of the season until the end.

Q. How does the team differ from last year’s team?

A. This year’s team has a different personality, as opposed to last year’s, we’re a little silly but also determined to stay focused and keep our mind on the goal.

Emily’s Responses:

Q. What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

A. My expectations for the upcoming season is that as a team we will improve our chemistry in order to become a better team and and play better as one.

Q. What are your goals as a team for the upcoming season?

A. One of our goals this year as a team is to improve with every game, or scrimmage played, and advance deep into the postseason.

Q. How does the team differ from last year’s team?

A. This team differs from last year’s team in that we have a clearer picture of where we want to be by season’s end, and we have the will to put in the work necessary to reach that place.
