2021 NFL Mock Draft Report: New York Giants
It is obvious that the 2021 NFL season was something for the record books, but this draft could be more impactful, especially for the Giants, than previously anticipated. The 2021 draft is extremely deep, unlike the 2020 draft which for the most part was a wide reliever heavy draft. With QBs like Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, to wide receivers like Devonta Smith, to the Penn State Linebacker Micah Parsons.
The New York Giants have a pretty decent pick at number 11, which could’ve been better but the Giants ended up trying to fight for a run into the playoffs… sadly falling short to the Washington Football Team. They ended up getting smoked by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers ,who found themselves in Super bowl 55. Aside from that the Giants have a young aggressive defense, they can still be better with the addition of Micah Parsons at pick 11.
Micah Parsons is a 6’3 defensive juggernaut at Linebacker who totaled for 99 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles at Penn State. Micah would be a great option to pair up with the Giants pro bowl linebacker Blake Martinez. If he falls to pick 11 , due to some controversies and allegations surrounding him- Giants could get a steal.
Defense does win games, BUT what about offensively for the Giants? They have a young and explosive offense with Darius Slayton and Evan Engram catching the ball, Daniel Jones at Qb, and an incredible 4th year running back in Saquon Barkley. Barkley has been plagued with injury’s his last 2 seasons, but showed us in his rookie year what he could do when fully healthy. If not picked up before, the Giants could add an huge playmaker in Devonte Smith to their already young and fun offense.
Devonte Smith is a 6’1 175 lb quick Wide Receiver, who not only put up 1,856 yards and 23 TDs with 117 catches, he also won the National Championship with Alabama and the Heisman Trophy. Devonte would be an extraordinary pick for the Giants. He would boost their offense to a different level with all the new weapons they would now have at Daniel Jones disposal.
Other than that, the Giants NEED to pick up some offensive linemen maybe in some later rounds or some free agents, but hopefully the 2021 season looks bright for all the young stars in East Rutherford.
