Female Athlete of the Month- Qiuyi (Alice) Liu
Congratulations to Qiuyi (Alice) Liu, October’s Female Athlete of the Month. Alice is the setter on the Lady Cougar’s Volleyball team. Not only is she a great athlete, she is a strong student and is taking Advanced Placement courses to challenge herself.
Alice really enjoys attending FDR. She has made many close friends and feels she has amazing teachers. Alice is in her second year on the Volleyball team. She has also played on FDR’s Table Tennis and Badminton teams. She loves playing sports with her friends.
Alice believes her greatest strength as an athlete is her ability to learn things quickly. She also thinks her dedication to the team, helps her handle the pressure that exists during games. She really likes to face and overcome challenges. The one thing she would like to work on as an athlete is moving on after she has a mess-up. She is working on letting things pass and moving on to the next play.
Alice’s advice for younger students / athletes is to not be afraid of trying new things. She also recommends that they focus on their academics, first a foremost. You can’t help your team if you are not academically eligible.
Alice is grateful to her team and Coach Hand for this honor. She is proud that her hard work, and dedication to her team, has made her a better person.
Nice job Alice! You are an inspiration to your entire Cougar family!
