As the school year kicks into gear, and the leaves start to fall, there’s an electric buzz surrounding the Boys Soccer team at F.D.R. High School. Over the past two years, these guys have turned their jerseys into symbols of pride and determination, leading the Cougars to back-to-back second-place finishes in the South, something we haven’t seen since 2012!
When asked about his hope and aspirations for this upcoming season, Coach Fahkry said, “This season, I want us to grow together, build stronger friendships, and push ourselves as far as we can in the playoffs.” He says with enthusiasm, “The most important thing is that we give our best effort and help each other shine.” What makes this team special isn’t just their skills; it’s the bond they’ve created. Coach Fakhry emphasizes that communication is key. “We’ve been practicing hard, and you can really see how well we work together on the field,” he explains. “We’ve got each other’s backs, and it shows in how we play,” says Coach Fahkry He not just a coach; he’s a motivator who believes in every player.
The veteran players are essential to this team’s success. Led by Joe Escobar, with the help of Tavor Royal and Sleed Silaire, they bring their experience and leadership, while always uplifting the team’s spirit. The team looks stronger than ever. With a mix of strong veterans, and highly motivated newcomers like our main striker Samuel Duque, and our Rookie of the Year Juarez-Lopez Sinedin, the team is destined for a playoff run. The team performing at the highest level so far this year, proves that that teamwork truly makes a difference.
Even with all these preparations, the team can’t succeed without the support of our awesome school community! They love seeing familiar faces in the stands, cheering them on during games. “It means so much to us when everyone shows up,” Samuel says, beaming, “we’re all in this together, and we want to make our school proud!”
So, let’s show our Cougar spirit this season! Come out to the games, cheer loud, and help us make this an unforgettable year. Together, we can lift the Cougars to new heights and bring home the championship! Go Cougars! 🐾⚽️
