Are you interested in sports and want to be part of a team but don’t know how to join?
Well, this is the perfect article for you. I will tell you how to start your applications for these sports and the papers you need to obtain.
In FDR High School we have a total of 26 sports teams, a big variety of teams. All of those teams are separated into 3 different seasons. Those seasons are Fall, Winter, and Spring. The fall season has already started, some fall sports include Girls’ Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Boys Badminton, and Boys Football. The upcoming season would be the winter season some of the sports in that season include Table Tennis (Boys and Girls), Basketball, and Wrestling. It might be too late to sign up for the sports for the fall season, however, you can start preparing for the upcoming winter and spring sports.
To apply for a team you need to get two papers filled out. Those papers are the parent consent form and the medical form. Both of these papers can be obtained in room 221, where our AP of Physical Education, and Athletic Director, Mr.Stanco’s office is located. The parent consent form has to be read and signed by a parent saying they permitted you to participate in a sport. However, your medical form has to be completed by your doctor when you go for a check-up. So, be sure you make your doctor’s appointment before your sport of interest holds tryouts.
At FDR some sports have you try out before joining, for example Basketball, Volleyball, and Football. However, some sports accept people without any experience. For example, Girls’ Table Tennis and Girls’ Badminton will train you in the basics. When you join a team, you have to show up after school every day for practice and prove your commitment to guarantee your spot on the team. Otherwise, you will no longer be part of the team. It is your responsibility to come to practice and commit to the team.
Sports teams aren’t just about commitment and showing up, it’s also really fun and allows you to make connections with new people, whether it be upperclassmen, or underclassmen. You will be able to make memories that you will never forget. After reading this article, I hope that you become interested in joining sports teams, and if you were already interested, I hope that you found out how to start your application. Remember your necessary papers will be in room 221!
