Our cougar wrestlers have been absolutely dominating their opposition throughout the season. Where they clenched the second seed in the most stacked division in the city, plowed through the dual meets, tournaments, and borough championship this past Saturday. Coming home with a 10 qualifiers, 5 finalists, and two of them meeting in the finals to be a borough champion!
10 of our Cougars head onto the city championship, our 101s Lorenzo Minasyan and Rustam Abduvahobov, 116 Youssou Thiam, 138 Amir Siyum, 152 Yusufdzhon Balaev, 160 Captain Luka Zakaidze, 170 Captain Avery Ali, both 215s with Mirsan Cekic and Lazare Chikhradze, finally our 285 Captain Fayzullo Khakimjonov.
We are looking for many city champions, and some state placers. History was made by one of our Cougars, Avery Ali, at the prestigious Eastern States Classic, who is the first to make the top 15 and come back with a positive record from FDR. Alongside Cougars, Luka Zakaidze, Lazare Chikhradze, and Lorenzo Minasyan have been dominating their weight classes all season. The future looks positive for our Cougars as they claw their way to the city championships. As all season, when faced with adversity, we Cougars have believed and remembered to “Find the reason.” Head Coach Vincent Daiello believes we can have some major turnouts for the team if we come strong and relentless like we have throughout this year.
Wishing our Cougars the Best of Luck as they Head into the City Championship this Saturday and Sunday at Harry S. Truman Highschool!
