Senior year is here, and the clock is ticking down until college applications, homecoming, prom, and graduation. With the pressure coming up, I made a guide to show what you should expect to do for college and hear from your guidance counselors. I also noted down the various experiences and opportunities that will arrive in the coming months.
College applications:
With the college application deadline, students must plan and create timelines for essential application deadlines and scholarship opportunities. Students should utilize tools like planners or digital calendars to keep track of everything from teacher recommendations to essay submissions.
With thousands of colleges, students must choose the right college. Extensive research on academics, campus size, campus culture, and location could mean everything for a student. Choosing the right college that adheres to your needs is essential.
Filling out Financial Aid forms is also important. Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) early can give you an advantage, as your application will be analyzed more thoroughly. This early advantage could mean a potential increase in scholarships, which is an undebatable advantage in college.
Homecoming/Prom:
As a senior, homecoming is not just a celebration; it’s a time to reflect on your high school journey and embrace the lasting friendships you’ve made. It is a cherished tradition that’s important to make of every moment.
Prom is a memorable part of senior year; it starts a passage from high school into adulthood. Planning and preparing a dress/suit to impress is what it’s all about. Additionally, prom night fills the air with anticipation & energy. The beautiful venue with a magical touch enhances the experience for students. Whether you’re going alone or on a date, you should enjoy the music and let loose with friends on the dance floor, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.
Graduation:
Graduation is the culmination of the last four years in a single day. The bad and good, the memorable moments, and the ones you wish to forget come together in a single day of reflection as students are sent into adulthood for the first time. Graduation marks not just the end of high school but the beginning of new adventures; you should reflect on your journey through grade school positively and look towards the future with a sense of adventure. You will be free to do what you want for the first time in your life. Whether you’re going to college, working, taking a gap year, or traveling the world. Your endeavors should be taken with a heart full of hope, a hope for what the future holds and what you can accomplish.
