Spring is right around the corner, which means it’s time for a wardrobe adjustment. A change in seasons doesn’t have to be painful, it could actually be quite simple.. literally. A rule of thumb for dressing during this spring season is to keep it minimal, and dress lightly. Comfort is the modern day couture.
A common wardrobe favorite is the denim jacket. This style jacket can be worn during all four seasons, but luckily enough there are many different denim jackets to choose from- to best suit you.
An upside to a good denim jacket is that it will break in, and fit you after wearing. Before you know it, this piece will become your second skin. For my guys, check out this A.P.C. Denim Jacket available at mrporter.com for $290.
The next essential for this spring season would be a nice plain tee. When keeping your look minimal, there are a wide variety of tee shirts available at uniqulo.com for a bit under $13. They are unisex, simple tees from brands like Acne Studios and Ksubi can range from 90 to 150 dollars. Save yourself a couple bucks.
A good pair of jeans is necessary year round. When purchasing good denim, similar to the A.P.C. Jacket mentioned earlier, your jeans would shape and fit you accordingly over time, if selected correctly. This spring, Guys: try the ACE STRETCH VINT available on acnestudios.com, or for my girls the SKIN 5 VINTAGE also from Acne Studios. These are a little pricey, but one can always find similar washes to these from Zara, AA or H&M.
When it comes to footwear, no matter what season it’s best to go with a comfortable shoe being that this is what will support your entire body. As designer Rick Owens says, “Hair and shoes say it all. Everything in between is forgivable as long as you keep it simple.” With that being said, try the very minimal, Common Projects for the guys and a pair of espadrilles for the ladies. Though there are some high fashion brands that have espadrilles out now, Asos has a very similar shoe that gets the cute spring shoe point across.
